What are the Five Fold Ministries? 
  1. Apostle
  2. Prophets
  3. Evangelist
  4. Shepherd
  5. Teacher

 

  • The Apostle

Defined - One who is sent forth as a messenger and is fully authorized to represent the name they bear – “God’s Authority”
   
         There are three Categories:

Chief Apostle – Jesus Christ - (Heb. 3:1)
The Twelve Apostles of the Lamb - (Matt 10:2-6)
The Many Apostles of the Spirit - (Eph.4:11-13, 1Cor.12:28,Acts 14:4, Rm.1:1, 1Cor.9:5-6 , Rm.16:7, Phil.2:25, 1Thes.1:1, 2:6, Gal.1:19, 1Cor.1:1 and 4:6-9, 1Cor.15:5-7 and 9:5, Rev.18:20)
 
Characteristics:
It is a Foundational Ministry to the Church - (Eph. 2:19-22)
Apostle establishes new works/new assemblies. (Acts 2:41-2, Eph.3:1-12, Heb.6:1-2)
Apostle raises up some”Timothy” - (1Tim1:1-2, 1Tim4:11-16)
The Apostle has a specific commission from the Lord Jesus with a specific authority/spiritual endowments to accomplish that ministry - (Rm.11:13, Gal.2:7-10, 2Cor.10:13-16)
The Apostle has the following signs – all patience, signs, wonders and mighty deeds. 
 
  • The Prophet


    God Chosen and speaks as God directs them. The Ministry is moved by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21) in prophetic utterance, which can be:

                                               1. Predictive – Acts 21:10-11/11:27-28
                                               2. Directive – Acts 13:1-3
                                               3. Corrective – Acts 15:22-23,27,32

God sets clear Guidelines:
 
The words of the Prophet are judged by church leadership - (1 Cor. 14:29)
Prophecies should be time-tested - (Acts11:28)
Any prophecy should be confirmed independently - (2Cor.13:1)
Any prophecy should line up with scripture, the sure word of prophecy - (2Peter 1:19-21)

 
    Five Dimensions of the Prophetic

1. Office of Prophet - (Eph. 2:20)
2. Prophetic Preaching - (1 Peter 4:11)
3. Prophetic Presbytery - (1 Tim. 4:14)
4. The Spirit of Prophecy - (Rev. 19:10)
5. The Gift of Prophecy - (1Cor.12:10)
 
  • The Evangelist
Evangelists extend the frontiers of God’s Kingdom - (Acts6:3-7, Acts8:5-40, Acts21:8)
They are co-workers with an extension of apostolic ministry - (2Tim.4:5, 1Thes.3:2)
They also equip the body of Christ with the Evangelistic spirit of outreach.

  • The Shepherd (Pastor)

Defined - One who tends sheep or cares for flocks - (1Peter 5:1-4, Jhn21:15-17)

     *A Shepherd’s(Pastor) emphases in ministryis in relationship networking.

 

  • The Teacher

Defined - A teacher is not just someone who teaches but one who brings instruction to the body at large.(Col.3:16, Acts18:24-28, 1Cor.3:2-10)
